So you think you need a music marketing service? Or something along those lines that will help you get your name out there in the public and in the media?

One thing I love about the internet is that for every piece of good information you can find there is probably over one hundred other pieces of really bad articles and advice. I was recently doing to some research around music marketing services and came across this lady who has a series of really crappy but kind of funny because they are so crappy videos about music marketing.

I think we can all agree that there is a lesson to be learned in everything we do. As I was doing my research and looking on Youtube for good information on this topic, It occurred to me quite clearly that you’d have to be extremely lazy and stubborn to pay a music marketing service company like the lady in this video to do this work for you.
Let’s face it. This lady is an idiot! She talks to you like you’re a four year old. You just need to read the comments on the video page to realize how ineffective her tips and advice actually is.
Now consider the fact that she is making these videos to impress you to try and use her services
Don’t Waste Your Time – Do It Yourself!
How hard is it to write up a press release and fax it to a bunch of people? How hard is it to print up a bunch of stickers, bios, photo’s and prepare some press packs? Do you think it’s impossible to get your music reviewed by some reviewers?
These are no difficult things – writing a press release can be very clearly and easily explained with some basic research on Google. Calling your local magazine and trying to get a story isn’t as tough as you think either.
I don’t want to sound like a school teacher screaming down your throat but when I saw this video and realized just how lame most of music marketing services actually are, it became so obvious at the same time how simple it is to get off your couch and get the job done yourself.
