Working With A Major Record Label
You may be thinking you will never be able to get signed on with a major record label and will have to settle for singing at local concerts or maybe at special city events. But if you have talent and a willingness to do what it takes to succeed, it can happen just as easily for you as it has happened for others.
The most important step you can take is getting help from someone who “talks the talk and walks the walk” in the music industry.
Demonstrating Your Demo Has Talent!
One fact never in question is that a major record label gets all the music demos it can possibly listen to in several lifetimes. Sure…there’s a lot of competition, but that doesn’t mean you will never get your turn. In fact, if you have true talent and something important to offer the music industry, you can certainly succeed.
A large-scale record label has two goals in mind at all times. First the company wants to be the one that introduces the newest music sensation. Second and closely related of course, the recording company wants to make a lot of money. To be brutally honest, if you are an artist who has no interest in the financial aspects of the business, you might need to keep singing in those local coffee houses or your garage.
But if you know you have talent and can offer listeners something new in the music world, you can learn to chase the dollar while chasing your dreams of having your music recorded and sold to the general public. The recording label wins…you win….and the listening audience wins. What more could you ask for?
Breaking the Mold
Breaking into the music industry really requires knowing someone who can recommend your music to the major recording label. This can be a referral from a music producer or even a label’s current client. You might hold a concert in your local or regional area and have a producer invite the recording label’s representatives to attend and see for themselves your talent.
If you create music which is unique, breaks the music mold, introduces new music concepts, has mass appeal or is of interest to a specific market niche, you can sign on with a major record label. You have to create a following of loyal listeners that you can bring to the label which tells the music business right away there is money to be made.
Uncovering the Truth
I know…I know…it’s hard to think about money when you have that great music just waiting to burst onto the music scene. But many artists fail to ever sign on to a major record label simply because they are impractical. If you think your music is “sacred” and not to be commercialized….well….it’s back to the local theater for you.
But if you are serious about signing on with a major record label, and are willing to go the distance and do what it takes to get attention, then you certainly can become one of the many successful music artists. They exist you know. All you have to do is go to the local music store and check out the music DVDs.
Now wouldn’t your picture look great on one of those covers?
